Introduction

Something descriptive here.

Intake (Custom Fields)

Purpose

This section is used to create custom fields that appear in the Intake section for Contacts, Leads and Cases.

The "Related To" Dropdown

At the top of the page you will se a dropdown box with three values: Contact, Lead and Case. Selecting one of these values shows the custom fields related to the selection. For example, if you choose Lead, a list of custom fields shown in the Intake section for a Lead will be shown.

Attributes

The list of intake questions shows all of the custom fields and where there are used.

  • Question is the label for the custom field that will be shown in the Intake section.

  • Applies To is only used with Leads and Cases, and shows which case types the custom field should be used with. An empty value means that the custom field should be used with all case types.

  • Answer Type refers to the type of response expected for this question, e.g. Date or Text.

  • Encrypted indicates if answers for this question is encrypted in the database.

  • Hidden indicates if the question is hidden from the client in the Client Portal.

Lookups

Lookups provide a method to customize the software by editing lists of possible entries throughout the software.

Examples include:

  • Won/lost/refused reasons

  • Relationships and participant types

  • Discount reasons

  • Event types

Export

Export the entire system for use in another program.

Case Types

Create and modify the list of case types that you accept.

Categories

Edit and add task categories (e.g. Administrative).

The standard list is usually exhaustive, but sometimes additional categories make sense, especially with Administrative tasks.

For example, if you spend a lot of time on the phone with vendors or technical support, you could create new categories for those.

The benefit of creating a new category (versus just creating an activity type) is that you can filter tasks by category in the Task Grid.

Activities

Create and modify activity types related to your categories.

Invoicing

Set up options for invoicing, including billing increments, time rounding methods, letterhead and fonts.

Groups

Create groups that can be used when assigning tasks. When a task is assigned to a group, it can be claimed and worked by any member of that group.

This is useful when creating tasks that can be done by more than one person, without having to reassign the task when the assigned user becomes overloaded.

Bank Accounts

View your operating and IOLTA accounts, and view the current balance of the IOLTA account.

Payments

This section is used to connect your LawPay account to Outlaw Practice.

Outlaw Practice provides deep integration with LawPay. Once connected, you will see Payment Methods sections in your Contacts, Leads and Cases. You can enter credit card and ACH information for each client or benefactor, with the payment information being stored at the payment gateway (your information is not stored in Outlaw Practice or Lawpay, but rather with the gateway itself).

My Account

Change your password and manage your subscription payment method.

Firm Info

Manage the legal, billing and display name/logo for your firm.

To manage your users, navigate to the Settings page, then click on Users .

Here you can add, update or remove users, including:
